Food and Medicine?
Food and medicine have been linked together since the Ancient Greek philosopher, Hippocrates, coined the phrase “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.

Whilst a balanced diet has always been promoted for good health, until recently the extent of its role in disease, and chronic illness in particular, was less understood by the medical profession than by traditional ‘naturopaths’. Rather than the medial approach of treating the disease, these naturopaths believed that a wholesome diet combined with exercise, herbs and water would enable the body to heal itself.
However, the gap between medical and naturopathic understanding is closing rapidly due to the scientific research which is corroborating much of this early understanding.
Scientific.
There is much debate about the quality of scientific literature available today. It is essential for your health and wellbeing that any practitioner treating you is able to critically evaluate the literature which informs their professional judgment.
That doesn’t mean automatically accepting evidence which is supported by double blind placebo controlled trial without scrutiny because there are many hidden bias’s which can affect the outcome of such trials, which includes problems associated with those who invest in the research and seek to dictate the research agenda.

It also does not mean automatically dismissing other forms of evidence just because they are not supported by expensive placebo controlled trials.
